The Spirit of Wood
Below is an abridged selection of the medicine of different woods.
Please note that this is generic info about the species of wood. Each individual piece will carry its own specific medicine unique to it.
Bolivian Rosewood
Bolivian Rosewood is more feminine than masculine, though it holds both energies. Through a hard veneer, it is soft and flowing. It holds earnest, deep, soulful love. It is not shallow or frilly. Deep. Flowing. Some call it dark, but they do not understand. This is love in the depths, the places many people do not dare to go.
Cedar
Cedar is magical, aligned with divinity and divine wisdom. It has been considered sacred since very ancient times, used in temples and altars throughout the Middle East and saunas in Scandinavia.
It has been known to call itself the “shaman tree.”
Cherry
Cherry carries the energy of renewal. Its blossoms open and mark with the beauty the onset of the new season. Cherry resonates with Venusian energy, and sitting with her helps one attune to the power of love. It carries intense strength, having withstood the cold, harsh winter and being a harbinger for rebirth. The energy of love it carries is a robust one, filled with sweetness.
Hickory
Hickory holds a masculine energy, but not overly firmly so. He holds a fair amount of feminine energy too. He is a soft, but hard, male energy.
Hickory asks you to embody truth, uprightness, honesty, and integrity. He is a tree of Truth, embodying the spirit of Truth, both helping you find it, and calling you to it when you have strayed.
Maple
Maple carries the energy of beauty. Aligning with Maple helps align with the beautiful essence in all things. As Maple offers its sap, it is a reminder of the sweetness in life. Consider all the other ways that we use the word “sweet,” including to describe sounds, “sweet-talking” someone, and the exclamation “Sweet!” Maple holds an incredibly positive energy to it. Resonating with Maple helps clear negative energy and aligns your focus with the most beautiful things life has to offer.
Spalted Maple
Spalted Maple is Maple that has started to decay and fungus has infiltrated the wood, creating the black lines and streaks. Maple in its raw form carries the energy of beauty, sweetness, and strength.
As fungi work as nature’s recyclers, there’s an energy of decaying the old (to rebuild for the new) that Spalted Maple carries.
Walnut
Walnut is closely aligned with the energy of Jupiter, and carries the energy of expansion, growth, and and abundance. Rituals from long ago includes putting a coin in the earth by a growing Walnut tree.
Walnut carries healing energy for all sorts of ailments, especially with the immune system and energetic field. Though masculine in nature, it works in partnership with the Divine Feminine to help with wounds originated with one’s mother.
